SYSTEM DESIGN
I design detailed systems in my games to have a precise game design and be able to tweak the values based on the desired experience and tests.
EXAMPLE
During my free-to-play mobile project, I was notably in charge of the economic & progression system.
To design and communicate it to the team, I first made an economic design document (in collaboration with the other GDs) describing all its specificities and interactions. Then I made a flowchart of the whole experience indicating when and where the system updates. Subsequently, I created a spreadsheet (RLD) to enter all the values and test the progression curve.
