PITCH:

In Yskhöd, you follow the exodus of people from their village seeking a more welcoming land. In this community plagued by doubt, you play as Estrid, a young mother with a fighting spirit whom the villagers trust.

 

Throughout the journey, you will have to preserve the integrity of the community, while guiding it between spirituality and rationality, making difficult choices with sometimes unexpected consequences...

PRODUCTION

This game was my first one made with Game Artists. They were numerous, and only present at the beginning of the production, which pushed us to have an overall vision of the project very early and to communicate our graphic needs very quickly and efficiently.

 

In this narrative-driven project, we had to come up with a story that would last between 5 and 10 minutes and have different narrative branches. At the beginning, we had designed a story that was way too long, so we had to trim a lot of it. This taught me to synthesize the story to keep the essence.

 

With the other Game Designers, we worked a lot on world building, characters, and narrative architecture, and I simultaneously created a UX Graph to organize the narrative information given to the player. I then focused on writing the dialogues, which we then harmonized so that they would be consistent throughout the story.


I also took charge of how the spirituality/rationality system works, and more specifically how it is affected by the player's choices. Finally, I did some sound design, creating and integrating sound effects.
